ABOUT BUSINESS LANDSCAPES
A Business Landscape provides a precise, edge to edge view of the legal bedrock a business is founded upon; The processes, products & services founded by it; And the purposes they have been founded for.
The view achieves this by setting out:
- How the business is situated within it’s state’s enterprise environment
- The business’s geography and responsible officers
- The goals and objectives given to officers related to which state entities
- The operational processes designed to achieve the goals and objectives
- The events that trigger activity in the operational processes
- The jobs created in the business’s systems defining it’s responses to events
- The products and services produced by jobs
- The products and services distribution methods and consumers
- Relationships between processes and the products and services produced
A business landscape is the primary architectural document. It shapes all other views and sets the framework and trajectory of all subsequent enterprise architecture activity.
If it’s not part of a business’s landscape, then it’s not pertinent to a business.
